On December 19, 2019 the Adult Education Festival "The joy of learning" took place in Orhei. The objective of the event was to promote adult education and lifelong learning in order to raise citizens' awareness on the importance of education for social and economic development of communities.

The event was attended by over 120 people: representatives of the German Embassy in Moldova, District Council of Orhei, Orhei City Hall, various educational institutions, private companies, citizens of Orhei, Chisinau and Causeni. Mr. Kinne, Deputy Head of the German Embassy, reiterated the importance of lifelong learning for the development of the Republic of Moldova and for the support of German people for the  country’s determination to become prosperous through education. The representatives of Orhei public administration at the district and town levels have expressed their interest to develop human resources of all ages and become a learning city for the prosperity of the community.

Due to education and learning opportunities, citizens acquire new knowledge, skills and attitudes with which they are better equipped to adapt to their environments, anticipate and address the challenges they face on a daily basis. This is confirmed by the statements made by participants at the event: "For me learning means success, achievements, and prosperity," "I learn to progress spiritually, to always stay young," "For me learning is my life, which makes my life fuller!"

The participants had a welcoming and interesting atmosphere where they had the opportunity to learn something new about the history of the Romanian language and old writings, to embroider a toy for the Christmas tree, to make a hand-made greeting card, to learn traditional dances, etc.

The event provided again the opportunity to conclude that learning offers joy for both the process and the learning outcomes.

The Adult Education Festival was organized and organized by the Humanitarian Association "Filantropia Crestina" in close collaboration with DVV International Moldova with the support of BMZ (Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany).
