On October 26, the first branch of the Adult Education Center in the village of Prybuzke in Halytsynove amalgamated territorial community was opened. It’s the first institution of such kind in the Mykolaiv region.
Community authorities in partnership with DVV International Ukraine, USAID Program «Decentralization brings better results and effectiveness» (DOBRE) and the NGO Sustainable Development Club «Southern Initiative» united their efforts to open the Adult Education Center. By the end of 2021, it is planned to create another four branches of the Center in Halytsynove amalgamated territorial community.
The opening ceremony was attended by the director of the DVV International Ukraine Oleg Smirnov, the head of Halytsynove amalgamated territorial community Ivan Nazar, the program specialist of the DOBRE program, Natalia Safronova, and the chairman of the NGO Sustainable Development Club "Southern Initiative" Victor Sikalenko.
The idea of the Center was created during the long-term cooperation of local NGO with the community council. The results of non-formal education activities for residents proved the importance and potential of opening a permanent non-formal education institution for community.
The premises of the Adult Education Center are funded with the support of the USAID DOBRE program (310,000 UAH), the DVV International Ukraine (256 000 UAH) and the budget of the Halytsynove Council (195 000 UAH). The Center has three halls: training, informational and strategic.
The first courses for locals on gardening have already started.
After the official opening participants joined round table where they discussed the results of the focus groups and a sociological survey of the local population on priority areas for the development of adult non-formal education, and 4 educational programs for non-formal education, developed by the public sector and experts.
