Mini project "Cultural Center: integration of IDPs (internally displaced persons) into the social life of Kirovohrad" implemented by NGO "Care" under the project "From creation to destruction. Ways of reconciliation in Ukrainian society "supported by the DVV International and Information and Research Center" Integration and Development " supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany. The project aims to promote partnership and co-operative approach to local communities through a variety of cultural initiatives aimed at destroying stereotypes, the formation of mutual respect and confidence.
The question of reintegration of IDPs is particularly acute in Ukraine in general and in Kirovohrad. For now in August 2015 in the territory of Kirovohrad lives 10300 IDPs from the occupied territories of Donbass and the Crimea. According to most persons, besides the problems of living arrangement (difficulties finding housing, the possibility of official employment and pay taxes, medical care, placing children in kindergartens and schools), acute problem is the difference in culture and low awareness of IDPs on the peculiarities way of life, history and culture local communities. Of course, cultural differences create barriers to integration krymychan, of Lugansk and Donetsk citizens in social and, consequently, the economic life of Kirovograd.
Participants in the project were involved journalists, representatives of public organizations and citizens. There were seminars, fairs, intellectual tournaments, to overcome stereotypes, myths and forming mutual respect and improve immigrants stay in the region.
