In Zaporizska region (Ukraine) from 6 to 8 of October 2016 passed the International Days of adult education. The main purpose of the event - to promote the development of public policy on education and adult learning, the formation of Ukrainian society to understanding the value of lifelong learning. This year Zaporizska region accepted the event from Lviv region. The program included events in Zaporizhzhia and Melitopol, which was attended about 500 participants from different regions of Ukraine and abroad. In Zaporizhzhia was held an international forum "Adult Education - Regional development: experiences, challenges, strategies" with the work of 4 sections dedicated to the role of adult education in the economic development of the region, civil society, for people with special needs and old age people. Also, a separate section was devoted to the potential use of adult education centers for the development of local communities.
On the eve of the Forum in Zaporizhzhia, international and Ukrainian experts in education have been met with journalists and explains why today is so important to continue to learn throughout life.
President of the Ukraine National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences, President of the Society "Knowledge" of Ukraine Vasyl Kremen said that current conditions require changes in the education of adults, is particularly felt in recent years. Humanity has passed to innovative type of progress - changes occur very rapidly and can not teach a person for life. We must constantly learn, people need to realize this needs, it should become a way of life for adults.
"Today the education is a resource, which requires everyone in Ukraine, Ukrainian society for development, to a worthy entry into the European community. I hope that this event will give new impetus to the development of adult education in the future and will open many small centers of education for adults on the basis of existing structures ", - said Anita Jacobsone - regional director of DVV International in Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova.
According to Sung Lee (the consultant of program "Cities that studying" of UNESCO Institute), leading experts spread the idea of adult education worldwide. This is due to the need of a new way of modern life, scientific and technological progress, which promotes democratic society. Nowadays the system covers more than 140 cities around the world. For example, Korean Government accepted a law On Adult education in 1982.
In Ukraine we do not have a law On Adult education yet, but the new law On Education, has an article about Adult education, - said director of the Institute for Pedagogical and Adult Education of the Ukraine National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences, The Head of Ukrainian Adult Education Association - Larysa Lukianova. - It means that for the first time in our legislation will be assigned the term "adult education". In near future we will create a law On Adult education.
On the question how can learn adults (free or for money) Vasyl Kremen said that now education takes different forms. For example, we are talking about the fact that in the universities and colleges we had different programs. Yes, for example, Harvard University has more than 400 programs. Pay for training, according to Director of Department for Highly Qualified Staff Attestation and Licensing of the Ministry of Education and Sciences of Ukraine - Andrii Shevtsov, will be those who are interested in this - including employers, professional associations etc. Mechanisms of adult education by experts have not yet worked out, but experts believe that Ukraine will be possible in all forms of education.
According to experts, today in Ukraine for Adult education has done a lot, but more to be undertaken. One of the main tasks - to accept a law "On Adult Education", which will provide more opportunities for Ukrainian in education.
- We know from history that some countries develop throught human resource but not a strong economy. Creating legal conditions for people to be able to engage in lifelong learning - is the main task of the state. In our plans - to give to Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine a special law "On Adult Education". The Ministry of Education is working on this - said Andrii Shevtsov.
In October 7 - 8 forum work was continued in Melitopol. It is worth noting that in Melitopol education system for adults actively developing since last year. Melitopol is the only city which entered to the network of UNESCO "Cities that studying," - said the coordinator of the program in Melitopol, vice-rector of Melitopol State Pedagogical University named after Bohdan Khmelnytsky - Sergii Pryiyma.
In Melitopol work began with a briefing of experts on Cities that studying of UNESCO and representatives of NAPS of Ukraine. Perspective and relevance of adult education shared with the media and the public: Anita Jacobsone (Regional director of the Institute for International Cooperation of the German Association of People's Universities (DVV International) in Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova); Sung Lee (Adviser of the program "Cities that studying" of UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning); Ingrida Murashkivska (The Head of the Center for Adult Education (Latvia)); Galyna Verameiychyk (Director of DVV International in Belarus); Nellia Nychkalo (Academician-Secretary of Vocational and Adult Education NAPS of Ukraine (Kiev)); Oleg Smirnov (Director of DVV International in Ukraine (Kiev)).
Experts and guests welcomed the mayor Sergii Minko. He said that to host such a high representatives for Melitopol - a great honor. S. Minko thanked that Melitopol officially received membership in UNESCO Global network of Cities that studying.
After the briefing, work continued in Melitopol State Pedagogical University named after Bohdan Khmelnytskii, which opened by the International Scientific Conference "Adult Education in the context of civilizational change: experience, problems and prospects". Welcomed the participants Tatiana Ozerova (Director of Regional Department of Education); Sergii Minko (City Mayor); Valentyn Molodychenko (Rector of Melitopol State Pedagogical University named after Bohdan Khmelnytskii). Then the participants were divided in areas and worked in 7 sections.
On Saturday, October 8, for visitors and guests of international forum awaited providers exhibition for educational services "Island of Treasures". Everyone had the opportunity to try their hand at different types of professions: cooker, driver, beautician, teacher, seamstress, gardener, makeup artist, accountant, psychologist, hairdresser, nurse, massage therapist and even become "subjects" for fingerprints and palm. 36 members have shown own professional stands. Anyone participating in quests, testing, workshops, organizers also provided a number of outdoor games and dance workshops. At the conclusion of the International Days of adult education was visiting the object of historical and cultural heritage of Melitopol area - the National Historical and Archaeological reserve "Stone Tomb".
