Beginner trainers in non-formal education will continue studying at “School of Educators”

On September 8-12, 14-18, 2016 the second module of the training course for local and regional trainers "School of Educators" is to be held in Gomel region in the framework of the project "Learn to act". The main objective of the "School of Educators" is to train local and regional specialists to conduct short-term training programs (courses, lectures, seminars, workshops, etc.) based on active learning strategies. The topic of the present module reads “Basics of design of educational programmes for adults”; 44 novice trainers in adult education from all regions of Belarus are expected to take part in it. During the workshops, participants will get acquainted with the theories of teaching, motivational, psychological and social peculiarities of adult learning, the German experience, and will be able to apply this knowledge in practice while planning educational programs for target groups in their regions. Trainer team of the second module of the “School of Educators” consists of professional trainers in the sphere of non-formal education from Belarus and a German specialist – lecturer of the Adult Education Center in Cham (Bavaria, Germany).

Training within the long-term module course “School of Educators” also includes distance learning sessions with home assignments, the first of which was to conduct a needs analysis of the target groups in participants’ regions.

During the work of the "School of Educators", participants have already had an opportunity to enhance their knowledge about the features of adult education in Belarus and Germany, its significance in their own social context, civic education as one of the priorities for adult education.

The educational modules of the “School of Educators” were elaborated in accordance with the recommendations of the global core curriculum for adult learning and education “Curriculum GlobALE” (developed by DVV International and German Institute for Adult Education) that outlines basic competences of adult educators all over the world. Principles and international standards of adult education, as well as core competencies required for experts in the sphere of non-formal and adult education are reflected in the content and methodological components of the "School of Educators."

The long-term module course “School of Educators” is being held in the framework of the project «Learn to Act» funded by the European Union and DVV International (from the funds of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, BMZ). The three-year project aims at contributing to the fulfillment of the right to life-long education and civil participation.
