On June 27, the second Platform on Adult Learning and Education (ALE) meeting took place this year, this time with a special guest - University Prof. Dr. Regina Egetenmeyer, from the Julius-Maximilians University Würzburg, Germany.
The theme of this session was "Professionalization of Adult Learning and Education - Experiences from Germany regarding staff of the sector".
Valentina Olaru, State Secretary from Ministry of Education and Research of the Republic of Moldova (MEC), in her opening speech, mentioned the importance of professionalization in the field of Adult Learning and Education and the support that MEC expresses for this field.
In her presentation on "Professionalization in Adult Education", Dr. Regina Egetenmeyer, referred to the perspectives on Adult and Continuing Education in Germany, reviewing the types of Adult Education providers and some statistical data on participation in Adult and Continuing Education in her country in the period 1991-2022. She presented the traditional theories of professions as well as the perspective on a new professionalism (hybrid professionalism: autonomy, governance and economics) and the changing context of professionalization. The last chapter dealt with professionalization in ALE from a multi-level perspective: MACRO-MEZO-MICRO.
The German model offers the possibility for professionalization in ALE by avoiding standardization and strict regulation of ALE, giving it a large dimension of flexibility for development.
All the data provided in the presentation focused on the research conducted by Ms. Regina Egetenmeyer and her colleagues at the university.
The second part of the activity was organized into a workshop where the guests and members of the ALE Platform discussed the topic of professionalization of ALE in Moldova: what models and approaches exist, the differences between the German model and the one in our country and about the next steps and effective cooperation.
The activity was organized within the framework of the project "Professionalization of Adult Education Centres", from the BMZ funds.
