DVV International Ukraine
DVV International carries out the international work of the Deutscher Volkshochschul-Verband e.V. (DVV), the German Adult Education Association. DVV represents the interests of the approximately 850 adult education centres (Volkshochschulen) and their state associations, the largest further education providers in Germany.
As the leading professional organisation in the field of adult education and development cooperation, DVV International has committed itself to supporting lifelong learning for more than 50 years. DVV International provides worldwide support for the establishment and development of sustainable structures for Youth and Adult Education.
We are a professional partner in dialogue with the local people. To achieve this, we cooperate with more than 200 civil society, government and academic partners in more than 30 countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Europe. The regional and national offices of DVV International establish partnerships at the local and regional levels, ensuring high-quality and effective work in creating and developing sustainable structures for adult and youth education.
Alongside national, regional, and global adult education associations, DVV International advocates for and promotes the human right for education and lifelong learning. DVV International aligns its work with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the global Education 2030 agenda, and the UNESCO International Conference on Adult Education (CONFINTEA).
The Representative Office of DVV International in Ukraine started its operations in 2010 with the purpose of promoting adult education as a key to public welfare and sustainable development.
Our Goal
The goal of DVV International in Ukraine is to support the establishment and development of sustainable structures for youth and adult education.
What we do?
DVV International in Ukraine promotes adult education on three different levels: the micro level (educational measures for adult learners), the meso level (assistance to develop stronger organizational structures of adult education providers and their networks) and the macro level (advisory services on sector policy and public advocacy work). Our strategic priorities are as follows:
- Development of adult education centers to stimulate demand for learning and improve the accessibility of learning opportunities for adults.
- Development of educational programmes for adults to increase their employability and income, their civic engagement and political participation.
- Strengthening the capacity of adult education providers via trainings, experts exchange at national, regional and international level in order to impact management, content and the delivery mode of adult education.
- Advocacy for adult education and lifelong learning to increase people’s awareness about benefits of adult education across the country via information campaigns and political dialogue with decision makers.
- Introduction of empowering adult education methods and innovative approaches as a key in developing citizenship and competences among adults willing to engage in lifelong learning and among those who are hard to reach.
- Development of educational programmes for adults to increase their employability and income, their civic engagement and political participation and support their social integration
- Promotion of partners’ inclusion into international processes and networks of lifelong learning for building synergies among various actors
- Networking and best practice sharing among Ukrainian adult education providers for a mutual strengthening of the sector

The DVV International Representative Office in Ukraine serves as a professional partner, cooperating with civil society organizations, universities, and other educational institutions engaged in lifelong learning and training, as well as with ministries, local state authorities, local self-government bodies, and employment centers.
