The second year in a row Ukraine has joined “Active for education in prison 2.0” project, which is being implemented with the financial support of the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The main goal of the project is to expand professional exchange and international cooperation between the representative office of DVV International, German educational organizations for prisons and local partners in Armenia, Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine.
During 2019-2020, Representative office of DVV International in Ukraine in partnership with the Charitable organization «FREE ZONE» will work to ensure that human rights education in penitentiary institutions is carried out; will strengthen the institutional capacity of regional NGOs and expand the PEN network.
The International Network of Penitentiary Education in Eastern Partnership and Central Asia (PEN) is an association of NGOs and leading experts, created to promote the right to education in the penitentiary sector, as well as education as an effective mean of reintegrating convicted and released people.
As a result, it is planned not only to increase the number of NGOs working in penitentiary institutions but also to qualitatively strengthen their capacity to work with prisoners and to introduce innovative educational programs for them.
