Partnership Meeting "Learning community - transformation of conflicts in Ukraine and Moldova through active public participation"

The first partnership meeting of the project that united representatives of DVV International in Ukraine, Moldova and partners NGOs that working in area of nonformal education in both countries. It was presented the international project "Learning community - transformation of conflicts in Ukraine and Moldova through active public participation". The main aim - to promote dialogue and opportunities for public participation at the local level through activation of interaction between cultural institutions and civil society organizations in ten regions of Ukraine and five regions of Moldova.

The new view for the role and functions of NGOs in the context of partnerships  building with cultural institutions. Were outlined main prospects and possible obstacles to such cooperation. According to participants, the main obstacles are: traditional approaches and inveteracy staff thinking of cultural institutions, absence of their initiative, irresponsibility on own functions in the process of interaction with partner organization.

An important part of the meeting was the presentation of successful practices of Ukrainian NGOs  in the area of adult education and building partnerships with local cultural centers in Zhytomyr, Smila, Chernivtsi, Sumy and others. NGOs demonstrated not only the availability of educational programs and courses, but also examples of successful partnerships with local libraries. "Such partnerships - said, the Head of NGO "Council of young scientists" Yuriy Petrushenko - should not be limited only libraries. These may include theaters, museums, art spaces that only promotes the practice of social dialogue in the local community and society in general".

The meeting outlined the strategic directions of NGOs partnership with educational and cultural institutions. Have been exchanged experience between the Ukrainian and Moldovan colleagues. Untill April,12 will be providing competition for mini-grants of local NGOs that concerned the building of partnerships with local cultural institutions.
