German experts emphasized that today's task of Volkshochschulen is to find ways of solving issues such as the integration of migrants, the fight against inequality and the low standard of living of older people through education and involvement of people. State support of Volkshochschulen at the federal level and the understanding of the importance of lifelong learning contribute to overcoming these problems.
