The main goal of the project:
– Development of the inclusive and pluralistic society, including local communities in Belarus through creation of a supportive network for initiatives in the sphere of culture and history in rural and underdeveloped regions.
Objectives:
– To give rural residents an opportunity to participate in the political dialogue on issues of culture.
– To strengthen the position of NGOs, state institutions and local communities in the promotion of the Belarusian national identity and development of the rural areas through the support of local historical and cultural diversity.
Target groups – experts, representatives of state institutions and NGOs working in the spheres of education and culture; residents of rural areas in Brest, Grodno, Gomel, Minsk, Mogilev and Vitebsk regions.
Project implementation period – August 2012 – August 2014
Project area – Brest, Vitebsk, Gomel, Grodno, Minsk, Mogilev regions of Belarus.

The basic components of the project:
1. Stimulation of activity of rural residents and their participation in the development of the given villages.
2. Developing and strengthening the position of NGOs, state institutions and local authorities in preserving the local culture and history.
3. Raising the public awareness of the values of local culture and history as an important means of rural development.
The mentioned above project components will be implemented through the following activities:
1. Stimulation of activity of rural residents and their participation in the development of the given villages.
– Elaboration of 3 educational courses for work with rural residents.
– Holding 2 cycles of seminars for pilot regions in accordance with the developed educational courses, 3 seminars per each (6 two-day seminars).
– Development and implementation of six model projects in the pilot regions (Shchuchin, Grodno region; the village of Vygonoschi, Brest region; settlement Shumilino, Vitebsk region; the village of Vezhny, Gomel region; the village of Radomlya, Mogilev region; the village of Semezhevo, Minsk region).
– Holding a tender for 12 mini-projects.
– Implementation of 12 mini-projects by state institutions and NGOs.
2. Developing and strengthening the position of NGOs, state institutions and local communities in the promotion of the Belarusian national identity and development of the rural areas through the support of local historical and cultural diversity.
– Creation of 6 consulting stations in the regions of Belarus.
– Holding 6 seminars for experts from state institutions and NGOs working in the sphere of rural development.
– Elaboration of a manual “History and culture in rural development”.
– A study visit “Living village: German experience”
3. Raising the public awareness of the values of local culture and history as an important means of rural development
– Development of a website “Network of living villages”
– Publications about the project and its results.
– Regular PR-activity.
– An international festival “Living history of my village”.
